GC157 Geek-Girl ‘s Gone Wild with Sam Johnson

Jeremy is joined by comic book writer Sam Johnson (twitter @dasamjohnson) to discuss the collected edition of his mini-series Geek-Girl Lightning Strikes.  They discuss some of the characters and story elements, digital comics, and trends in the comic book industry.

Comic-book writer Sam Johnson returns (previous episode) to talk about the newly released collected edition of his mini series Geek-Girl Lightning Strikes. We talk about the creation of the character, his earlier comic works and his methods of getting word out about his works.  If you have wondered about what it is like to produce and indie comic and some of the challenges this episode will be right up your alley.

Created and written by Sam Johnson (The AlmightiesCabra Cini) and illustrated by Carlos Granda (Grimm Fairy TalesCharmed), in Geek-Girl vol.1: Lightning Strikes! (collecting the first 4-issue Geek-Girl Mini-Series) we meet attractive, popular Maine college coed Ruby Kaye. Ruby is a girl used to getting anything she wants; and when she overhears Trevor Goldstein, the resident college brainiac, talking about super-tech glasses he’s invented, she decides she wants them!
